The telecommunications system is the backbone of the US weather research enterprise and global wireless control apparatus. Radiofrequency/Microwave (RF/MW) Radiation is uninsurable pollution continuously transmitted by telecommunications facilities, NEXRAD, satellite networks, and interoperable instruments. This infrastructure is part of an international system of observation, (aka, “surveillance”). The United Nations (UN) International Telecommunications Union (ITU) is the organization that coordinates the standardization of international communications networks. The UN ITU standards are followed by the FCC and other US agencies. No U.S. agencies are monitoring or measuring the RF/MW Radiation pollution produced by irradiating infrastructure in order to protect people and nature.

Proposed legislation, HR 7813 — To amend the Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Act of 2017 to require the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere to expand and modernize the weather radio system of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and for other purposes.
