AI Used in Attack on Elementary School in Iran

26 March 2026 | ZeroNotification.com | Image Source | More than one hundred children were killed by a U.S. Tomahawk cruise missile that struck Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab, Iran. A targeting and intelligence platform known as the The Maven Smart System, built by Palantir Technologies was reportedly used to generate strike coordinates in the illegal US-Israeli attack on Iran. The software uses uses Anthropic’s Claude AI model to semi-autonomously rank targets according to strategic importance.

Congressmembers have requested information about the use of AI in the bombing campaign, asking, “Was artificial intelligence, including the use of the Maven Smart System, used to identify the Shajareh Tayyebeh school as a target?” and “If so, did a human verify the accuracy of this target?” An official answer has not been issued.

“Maven fuses satellite imagery, drone feeds, radar data and signals intelligence into a single interface, then classifies targets, recommends weapons systems and generates strike packages in near real time, compressing kill-chain reasoning and decision making into the fastest timelines ever seen on the battlefield.”  Source
